Oh, June. June. June, June, June. So glad you’re gone. I’m reminded of those “Black Eyed Peas” lyrics, “Let’s get ignorant. Let’s get hectic,” except it wasn’t nearly as fun as they suggest. I knew I shouldn’t have told you how much life sucked there for a minute, because you know what? After I hit “post,” lousy things kept happening:
Prime example: While I was investigating an on-the-job accident, I dropped my phone, shattering the screen. I put packing tape on it to keep the shards from falling out. It’s not an expensive phone, but still, broken. Not broken enough to have to be replaced because the touch screen still works through the cracks.
Was it residual bummers trickling in? Or was it because I had let my mind focus on the lousy thoughts? Presumably the latter. I’d better turn that around, stat.
But I digress. Behold, the spreadsheet:

June 2016 |
Awww, Dawg! I was so hoping to at least REGISTER ONE WHOLE PERCENT DOWN! And I’ve been letting negative thoughts run tracks all over me, which isn’t doing much for my motivation, so I’m going to course-correct right now! Instead of being bummed about not getting to at least 1% of my debts paid off, I’m going to celebrate that we paid off 50% more in June than we did in May. Shazaam!
At the end of June, I paid off all our credit cards, except for one. I know we are in cash-hoarding mode because of the double mortgages (please SELL SOON!!) but I couldn’t stand seeing all those balances creeping up on us. I’m struggling with wanting to take action, but being in “sit tight” mode.
Also, our net worth has increased over last month. Considering everything that happened in June, I’m relieved. Rocky was out of work five days with our sick kid, which cost us $480 in lost wages. My speeding ticket cost us $222. His business insurance was about $250 (we thought we had canceled it). And re-filling the refrigerant on the a/c cost $355. If you’re counting, that alone put us in the hole over $1,300. Add that to the $600 in the hole each month carrying two mortgages, and we’re looking at being $1,900 before we even consider how well we budgeted for the month.
So, although June was painful, we are still seeing progress. We’re all healthy and blessed. No complaining here.
